Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
NEED TO KNOW: The Oklahoma City Dodgers (79-51) pulled away from the Albuquerque Isotopes (56-75) 8-2 late Tuesday night at Isotopes Park. Oklahoma City scored six runs in the final three frames. The Isotopes only runs came off a Cristhian Adames solo homer in the first inning and a Tommy Murphy solo shot in the ninth.
THE TURNING POINT: Oklahoma City quickly jumped on the board with a Corey Seager solo homer in the first, but Albuquerque immediately responded with a solo blast of their own in the first courtesy of Cristhian Adames. It wasn't until the fifth when the Dodgers managed to retake the lead with a two-out single by Seager. OKC plated three more runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to pull away from the Topes. Albuquerque managed just one more run when Tommy Murphy led off the ninth with a solo homer.
ATTA BOY ADAMES: Cristhian Adames mashed a solo home run in the first inning, providing one Albuquerque's only two runs, and finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a homer. Adames has now hit safely in 21 of 24 games in August. During that stretch, he is batting .396 (38-for-96) with 14 runs scored, three doubles, a triple, three homers, seven RBI and 11 walks.
ENDING WITH A BANG: The Isotopes will wrap up the 2015 home season with a bang this weekend. There will be a rally towel giveaway on Thursday courtesy of Gonstead Chiropractic to the first 3,000 fans and a duffel bag giveaway on Friday courtesy of Miller Lite to the first 2,500 fans 21 and older. Albuquerque's annual fan appreciation weekend is Saturday and Sunday with more than $40,000 in prizes set to be given away over the weekend. There will also be post-game fireworks Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
ON DECK: The Isotopes and Dodgers will play the finale of their four-game series Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Boone Whiting (3-8, 5.91 ERA) is scheduled to start for Albuquerque, while Oklahoma City is slated to go with right-hander Joe Wieland (10-5, 4.43 ERA).
IN THE HOLE: After this four-game set with Oklahoma City, Albuquerque will wrap up its 2015 home slate with a four-game series against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox August 27-30. The Isotopes will conclude the 2015 season on the road with an eight-game trip to visit the Fresno Grizzlies and Sacramento River Cats.
