Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers continue their series against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:35 p.m. Central time at Isotopes Park. The four-game series is tied, 1-1.
Last Game: Albuquerque trailed late, but scored runs in the eighth and ninth innings to sink the Dodgers, 5-4, Monday night at Isotopes Park. The Dodgers led 4-3 heading to the bottom of the eighth, but Willin Rosario homered on the first pitch of the inning to tie the game. In the bottom of the ninth with runners at the corners and one out, Angelys Nina sent a weak ground ball to the left side of the infield. Corey Seager fielded the ball and threw home, but Cristhian Adames slid in safely for the game-winning run. Nina was credited with a RBI infield single. Austin Barnes started the scoring when he led off the second inning with a solo home run. The Isotopes answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. The Dodgers pulled even in the top of the fourth when Scott Schebler hit a RBI single to make it a 2-2 game. In the bottom of the inning, Rafael Ynoa sent a ground ball off the end of his bat that hit first base, resulting in a RBI double and a 3-2 Isotopes lead. In the top of the sixth, Seager and Andy Wilkins each collected RBI doubles to put the Dodgers back in front, 4-3. OKC was limited to six hits, although four went for extra bases. Isotopes reliever Miguel Castro (1-0) picked up his first win. Danny Coulombe (2-1) pitched in the ninth inning for OKC and allowed his first run since the All-Star Break, resulting in his first loss of the season.
Today's Probable Pitcher: David Huff (4-1) makes a spot start tonight in place of the injured Brandon Beachy...Huff has made 21 appearances for OKC, including two starts. Tonight will be his first start since April 30 at Iowa...Huff last pitched two innings of relief Aug. 20 against Reno, holding the Aces scoreless with one hit and two strikeouts...Each of Huff's last 18 appearances have been out of the bullpen, including 13 scoreless outings. He's allowed one or no runs in 18 of 19 relief appearances and has not allowed more than one earned run in any relief appearance this season...The lefty currently owns a 34/5 strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.8 BB/K) and has a 0.92 walks per nine innings rate...He's holding opponents to a .184 clip with runners in scoring position, including 1-for-17 when there are two outs...Tonight marks his first career appearance against Albuquerque.
Against the Isotopes: 2015: 1-1 2014: 4-0 All-time: 98-83 In ALB: 40-50
Last night was Albuquerque's first win against OKC since a 6-4 victory in Bricktown on July 1, 2013, snapping OKC's 12-game winning streak against the Isotopes...This marks the lone series of the season between the teams...OKC has not visited Albuquerque since June 1-4, 2013, splitting the series, 2-2...Last season OKC swept a four-game set in Bricktown, Aug 24-27, outscoring the Isotopes, 24-10...Between 2003-2013, OKC and Albuquerque met each other 16 times per season, but now only meet for one series each year due to divisional realignment in the PCL last season...The Isotopes were the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate the past six seasons (see more below).
Old Faces, New Places: Although the Isotopes were the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate from 2009-14, only two players on OKC's active roster have suited up for Albuquerque in the past -- Darwin Barney and Zach Lee. However, there are currently three players on the DL who are also former Isotopes (Josh Ravin, Steve Smith, and Ramon Troncoso). Manager Damon Berryhill was Albuquerque's skipper last season, and hitting coach Franklin Stubbs served in the same capacity for Albuquerque over the previous two seasons. Athletic trainer Greg Harrel was with Albuquerque 2009-11, and strength and conditioning coach Travis Smith was also with the Isotopes 2013-14.
Road Warriors: Monday's loss ended a season-best stretch of six straight road wins for the Dodgers. They are 41-26 away from OKC this season, and have set a new team record for most road victories in a season, previously set in 2004 (40-32). The Dodgers' 41 road wins this season are third-most in all of the Minors, trailing High-A Visalia (43-21) and Double-A Corpus Christi (42-21).
Ups and Downs: The Dodgers lost Monday, but have won 11 of their last 15 games, following a stretch where they lost nine of 14...With both Iowa and Omaha each winning Monday night, the Dodgers' first-place lead was cut down to 6.5 games ahead of both the I-Cubs and Storm Chasers...The Dodgers' largest division lead was 11 games entering play on July 4, but they have gone 25-24 since. After their first-place lead was cut all the way down to three games, the Dodgers have added 3.5 games to their lead since Aug. 1...The Dodgers and Fresno are tied for the league lead with 78 wins. They represent two of the five teams in the Minors with at least 78 victories.
Barnes Burner: Austin Barnes is 10-for-20 over his last five games with a home run, three RBI, three runs scored, and four walks against one strikeout. Last night Barnes connected on his first home run since July 10 at Colorado Springs. Barnes is batting .357 in August and has posted a .410 on-base percentage this month.
Double Double: Andy Wilkins was the only Dodger with a multi-hit game last night, going 2-for-4 with two doubles. It's the first time a Dodger has collected two doubles in one game since Austin Barnes did it on July 18 vs. Round Rock...Wilkins has picked up a RBI in three straight games. Since collecting his first RBI with OKC on May 17, he leads the team and ranks tied for third in the PCL with 65 RBI.
Mound Men: The Dodgers have held their opponent to two or fewer runs in 10 of the last 15 games. During the 15-game stretch, the Dodgers pitching staff has surrendered just 39 runs (2.48 ERA - 39 ER/141.1 IP). Opponents are batting .216 (108x500) with five home runs and have gone 22-for-100 (.220) with RISP...Over the last 16 games, Dodgers starting pitchers have combined for a 2.32 ERA (24 ER/93.0 IP) with 11 quality starts. They've held opponents to a .201 average (66x328) -- including 12-for-66 (.182) with RISP.
Unlucky Seven: Monday marked the fifth time this season the Dodgers lost when leading after seven innings, but it was the first time they did so against a team other than Colorado Springs. OKC had been 57-0 when leading after seven innings against the rest of the PCL.
Tuesday Tidbits: In the five games since Darnell Sweeney was traded, OKC leadoff hitters have combined to go 3-for-22 (.136) with three runs scored, no walks, and no stolen bases...Last night was Danny Coulombe's first loss since May 29, 2013 while pitching for High-A Rancho Cucamonga vs. Lancaster (126 appearances). Until last night, Coulombe had turned in 12 straight scoreless appearances, spanning 12.0 IP.
