Reyes Shines in Bees Loss

Salt Lake Bees News Release

Round Rock, TX (Aug. 24) - A base running mistake cost the Salt Lake Bees a game tying three run homer in a 3-2 loss to the Round Rock Express on Monday night. Salt Lake trailed 3-0 in the seventh when Jett Bandy and Kyle Kubitza each reached base with an infield single. Alfredo Marte followed with an apparent three run shot into the Round Rock bullpen off of Express starter Chi Chi Gonzalez that would have made it a 3-3 game, but Marte passed Kubitza between first and second base. Marte is ruled out and the homer becomes a two run single and Bees are kept off the board the rest of the way.

Salt Lake starting pitcher Jo Jo Reyes (3-4) was the tough luck loser, as he went five innings and allowed one unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts and no walks. On major league rehab assignments from the Angels, Taylor Featherston and Collin Cowgill each went 1 for 4 and Matt Joyce and David Freese each had 0 for 3 nights. At one point, Round Rock's Gonzalez struck out seven consecutive Bees' batters.
