OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Chesapeake Energy Corporation are proud to honor Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County as Chesapeake Energy Community All-Stars during the Dodgers' home game Friday, June 19 against the Memphis Redbirds at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Chesapeake Energy Community All-Stars program identifies organizations that have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. In partnership with the Dodgers, Chesapeake will honor five organizations throughout the 2015 baseball season.
"We're so fortunate to live in the state of Oklahoma, which is full of so many generous organizations," OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "Dodgers games provide an ideal platform to assist in Chesapeake's mission of recognizing deserving organizations that better their communities."
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County provide "a safe and positive place for kids, and through dynamic programs and nurturing staff, the Club empowers youth to make the right decisions," according to the organization's website.
"The Boys and Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County is an after-school and summer based program giving kids an opportunity to have a safe and positive place to have fun with life-changing and life-encouraging skills," said A. Jaye Johnson, community relations and facilities director. "(The Clubs) give the kids a place to go, and a place to feel that is theirs and a place to call home."
First pitch for Friday's game is set for 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County will be honored at the end of the third inning. Johnson will accept the award on behalf of the organization and an informational video about the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County will also be included in the award presentation.
