Today's Game: The OKC Dodgers return home after their longest road trip of the season to open a seven-game homestand at 7:05 p.m. against the Sacramento River Cats at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...The Dodgers last played in OKC May 20 before playing 14 straight road games and went 7-7 on the trip...The Dodgers have won a season-best five straight games and last won six games in a row April 25-30, 2018.
Last Game: Yesterday was a league-wide off day, but on Sunday, Edwin RÃ-os homered twice and collected five RBI as the Dodgers defeated the Memphis Redbirds, 8-2, at AutoZone Park to complete their first road series sweep since 2016. RÃ-os led off the second inning by hitting the first pitch out to right-center field. Drew Jackson followed with a double and later scored when Errol Robinson lined a single into left field for a 2-0 Dodgers advantage. Zach Reks pushed the Dodgers' lead to 3-0 when he led off the third inning with a homer on the first pitch out to right-center field. RÃ-os picked up his second RBI in as many innings hitting a sacrifice fly out to center field for a 4-0 OKC advantage. The Redbirds got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI double by Rangel Ravelo. RÃ-os extended the Dodgers' lead with a three-run homer in the fifth inning. A sacrifice fly by Connor Joe in the top of the sixth pushed the Dodgers' lead to seven runs. The Redbirds added a run on a RBI groundout by Adolis Garcia in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dodgers starting pitcher Dennis Santana (1-4) pitched a season-high 6.0 innings in his first win of 2019. He allowed two runs and five hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Dodgers relievers Kevin Quackenbush, Josh Sborz and Jaime Schultz combined to hold the Redbirds scoreless and to one hit over the final three frames. Memphis starting pitcher Alex Reyes (1-1) was charged with the loss.
Today's Probable Pitchers: Tony Gonsolin (1-1) is slated to make his fifth start of the season with OKC as he opens tonight's game while continuing to build up his workload...Gonsolin pitched the first 1.2 innings May 30 game in Memphis. He held the Redbirds without a run or hit, issued two walks and recorded two strikeouts...Gonsolin missed more than five weeks of action after going to the IL April 17 (retroactive to April 15) due to a side strain, and tonight is his third outing since returning to game action...In 11.2 total innings this season, Gonsolin has allowed three runs and six hits with 14 K's, with opponents batting just .146...Gonsolin entered the season ranked as the Dodgers' eighth overall prospect by Baseball America after being named the 2018 Dodgers' Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Between High-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Tulsa, he made 26 starts and led Dodgers minor league pitchers in ERA (2.60), wins (10) and strikeouts (155)...Gonsolin was selected by the Dodgers in the ninth round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of St. Mary's College.
Rob Zastryzny (2-2) is expected to follow Gonsolin and serve as OKC's primary pitcher tonight...He followed Gonsolin May 30 in Memphis, entering the game in the second inning and pitched 3.1 innings. He allowed six runs on three hits, including a homer, along with three walks and three strikeouts...He picked up back-to-back wins in his last two starts May 25 at Omaha and May 20 against Omaha in OKC...Zastryzny has racked up a team-leading 59 K's this season - fifth-most in the PCL - reaching at least nine strikeouts twice. On May 4 in New Orleans, he tied his career high with 10 K's...Zastryzny spent the first six seasons of his career in the Chicago Cubs organization and was selected by the Cubs in the second round of the 2013 MLB Draft from the University of Missouri.
Against the River Cats: 2019: 0-0 2018: 2-1 All-time: 39-43 At OKC: 18-21 The Dodgers and River Cats are meeting for their lone series of the season...OKC won last season's three-game series in Sacramento, losing the opener before winning the final two meetings by a combined score of 19-9...Angelo Mora racked up nine hits over the three-game set in 2018, while Henry Ramos (currently a River Cat) had four RBI and Kyle Garlick scored four runs...The teams last met at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in 2017, with OKC picking up a 3-0 series sweep. It was supposed to be a four-games series, but the final game was canceled due to inclement weather. The series opened May 15, 2017 with Wilmer Font racking up a team-record and career-high 15 strikeouts...OKC has won the last two season series against the River Cats and has not lost a season series to Sacramento since 2015 when they went 0-4 in OKC.
Familiar Faces: Current Sacramento outfielder Henry Ramos and switch-handed pitcher Pat Venditte both spent the majority of the 2018 season with OKC. Ramos paced the Dodgers with 58 RBI last season and finished second on the team with 106 hits. Venditte made 45 appearances for OKC last season, posting a 1.75 ERA with 62 strikeouts against 14 walks. Additionally, former OKC infielder Donovan Solano began the season with Sacramento, but has been playing with the San Francisco Giants since early May.
High Five: The Dodgers are on their first five-game win streak since winning six in a row April 25-30, 2018...By taking all four games of the previous series in Memphis, the Dodgers swept a series of more than three games for the first time since April 25-29, 2018 during a five-game home set against Iowa. It was also the team's first road series sweep since Sept. 2-5, 2016 at Omaha...During the current win streak, the team has a +28 run differential. Prior to that, the team's run differential over the first 51 games of the season was -97...The team has allowed three or fewer runs in four the five games, including two or fewer runs three times. Before the win streak, the team's previous three instances of allowing two of fewer runs spanned 42 games between April 13-May 28...OKC has not committed an error during the five-game win streak.
Breaking Out: The Dodgers tallied eight runs Sunday and have now scored six or more runs in five straight games for the first time this season...OKC has also scored first in five consecutive games and notched two or more home runs in four of their last five games (11 HR), including in their last two contests (5 HR)...OKC went 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position Saturday and is now 20-for-52 (.385) with RISP over the last five games...During the five-game win streak, the Dodgers are batting .278 (50x180) with 44 runs and 11 home runs. Entering Wednesday, OKC had tallied five or fewer hits five times in its previous eight games and over the first nine games of their road trip was batting .181 (50x276) with and 27 runs and four homers...The Dodgers have outhit their opponent in five straight games for the first time this season.
Steady Eddie: Edwin RÃ-os homered twice Sunday, collecting a solo homer on the first pitch of the second inning and adding a three-run shot in the fifth inning, marking his seventh career multi-homer game. RÃ-os finished the day with a season-high five RBI. His last multi-homer game and last time he reached the five-RBI mark was June 10, 2018 at Fresno...RÃ-os has now hit safely in a season-best five consecutive games, going 7-for-21 with three homers, a double, nine RBI and five runs scored.
Around the Horn: The Dodgers' leadoff batter collected a hit or walk in all nine innings Sunday...Connor Joe has reached base in 20 of his last 21 games with the Dodgers, and in 27 games with OKC this season, he is slashing .302/.438/.512...Drew Jackson has hit safely in six straight games, going 10-for-25 (.400) with three multi-hit games, two homers and seven runs scored...After starting the road trip 2-for-30, Zach Reks came alive in Memphis, going 5-for-15 with five extra-base hits...Over the last three games, the bullpen has allowed one run (a solo homer) and five hits, with two walks and 16 strikeouts over 9.1 innings...Last season the Dodgers went 15-13 against the Pacific Conference (8-6 at home).
