Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers opened their inaugural season with a 2-0 loss against the Round Rock Express Thursday in front of a crowd of 11,189 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Express (1-0) scored runs in the second and eighth innings and held the Dodgers 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position in the shutout.

Express starting pitcher Anthony Ranaudo (1-0) earned the win, holding the Dodgers scoreless over 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and striking out six. He combined with four relievers to complete the blanking.

Carlos Peguero singled to lead off the second inning for Round Rock and later scored on a sac fly by Chris Gimenez for a 1-0 Express lead.

Although the OKC Dodgers did not score in the bottom of the inning, third baseman Buck Britton connected on a two-out single for the first hit in team history.

The Dodgers (0-1) threatened in the bottom of the seventh when O'Koyea Dickson and Austin Barnes roped back-to-back one-out singles. However, Matt Carson followed with a strikeout and Britton popped out to end the inning.

The Express took a 2-0 lead in the eighth. Third baseman Ed Lucas hit a lead-off triple and scored on a Jared Hoying RBI single.

In the bottom of the ninth, Barnes connected on a one-out single. A two-out walk drawn by Britton put runners at first and second, but Darnell Sweeney struck out swinging to end the game.

The OKC Dodgers left 10 players on base and never had a leadoff batter reach base.

Dodgers starting pitcher Scott Baker was charged with the loss, allowing one run on three hits, and striking out six over 5.0 innings. He threw 68 pitches, with 54 strikes.

The OKC Dodgers continue their season-opening homestand with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday against the Express at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fireworks will follow the game.
