Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Metairie, LA - Jose Urena sizzled through six innings in his Triple-A debut to lead New Orleans past Omaha, 4-1, Friday night in the second game of the season-opening four-game set at Zephyr Field. The Storm Chasers have split the first two games of the 2015 campaign and have now dropped 13 of their last 18 games in Louisiana.

The Zephyrs started the scoring in the second inning with a lead-off long ball from Derek Dietrich and added another marker in the third on Justin Bour's two-out run-scoring single. After being blanked on two hits through four frames, the visitors broke through in the fifth for their only run on an RBI hit by Jose Martinez that plated Orlando Calixte, as both players collected their first hit at the highest level in the minor leagues.

Veteran right-hander Joe Blanton pitched well in his Omaha debut, yielding two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out one over five frames but was saddled with the loss. Scott Alexander took over in the sixth and surrendered a pair of runs on an RBI ground out and a wild pitch that finished the scoring.

Fields started the seventh with a single and moved to third on a base hit by Cheslor Cuthbert that chased Urena from the hill after he had allowed six hits, walked one and fanned five. Salvador Sanchez came on and recorded a shallow fly out, a strikeout and a force out to keep Fields stationary. The right-hander then held the visitors off the board in the eighth to finish off his first Triple-A appearance before giving way to Nick Masset, who set down the Chasers in the ninth to earn the save one night after blowing his first opportunity of the season.

The series continues Saturday night with Omaha right-hander Christian Binford taking the hill against NOLA southpaw Adam Conley. Coverage of the game gets underway at 5:40 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
