Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 11)- In their first game back home for 2008, the Texas Brahmas opened with a disappointing score, 5-2 against the Tulsa Oilers Friday Evening.

Tulsa opened the scoring in the first period with a Brendon Hodge powerplay goal at the 6:21 mark. Twelve minutes later Tulsa shot another goal past Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola to put the Oilers up 2-1. Texas' forward Jordan Cameron finally led the way for the Brahmas on the powerplay as he scored his fifth powerplay goal of the season from Blair Manning and Justin Kinnunen.

The second period was plagued with penalties, eight in total and another Tulsa special teams goal, but this time shorthanded. Tulsa goaltender Clint Chalmers saved all eight shots faced in the second.

The Brahmas bad luck continued in the third period when forward Warren McCutcheon scored his sixteenth goal of the season on an Oiler powerplay. Texas' fortune seemed to change momentarily when Brahmas All-Star defenseman Justin Kinnunen took a rebound from a Mark Carragher shot past Chalmers on the penalty kill. It was the Brahmas first shorthanded goal of the season.

Despite a goaltender change with Brett Jaeger seeing the ice and having the extra man, Texas was unable to complete a comeback and lost 5-2, dropping their record to 14-15-1. Both teams will travel to Tulsa for a rematch tomorrow night at 7:35 PM.
