Strive For Five: The Tulsa Oilers seek their second five game winning streak of the season tonight as they host the Northeast Division leading Memphis RiverKings.
Records: Oilers are 18-18-5 with 41 points in fourth place in the Northeast Division. Memphis is 30-11-3 with 63 points in first place in the Northeast Division.
Recent Action: The Oilers ran their current winning streak to four games with a 4-2 victory over Wichita on Tuesday. Memphis is coming off a 5-2 loss in Colorado on Wednesday night.
Season Series: This is the sixth meeting of the season between the two teams. Memphis has won all five, but the first four games were all decided in overtime, with two of those going to shootouts. So while Memphis is 5-0-0 against the Oilers, Tulsa is 0-1-4 against Memphis. Memphis won the most recent contest between the two teams, 3-0 in Memphis on January 9th.
Close Calls: Don't leave early tonight. Not only have four of the five games between the Oilers and Memphis gone to overtime (with two shootouts), five of the Oilers last six games have been decided by one goal. The one game that wasn't the Oilers scored an empty net goal with three tenths of a second left to take the 4-2 win over Wichita Tuesday.
Time Check: These two teams play here next Tuesday in a game that was originally set as a morning contest. That game has now been changed back to the traditional 7:05 p.m. start time for Tuesday games. That game will be a QuikTrip Tuesday with ticket vouchers available at are QuikTrip stores. The Tulsa public School day game has been changed to Tuesday March 6 against Bossier-Shreveport at 10:05 a.m.
Next Up: The Oilers will continue this five game homestand (their longest of the season) tomorrow hosting the Wichita Thunder at 7:35 p.m. They also play Wichita at home on Sunday at 5 p.m. That game is a make-up from January 13th, with tickets from that date being honored for Sunday's game. Sunday will also be the Oilers Family fun fest, with Jupiter jumps, clowns, face painting, police safety demonstrations and more. The family fun fest starts at 3:30 p.m. The homestand will conclude on Tuesday against Memphis at 7:05 p.m.
