
Robertson Named Sher-Wood CHL Player Of The Month

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- Scorpions assistant captain Chris Robertson has been selected as the Sher-Wood CHL Player of the Month. He is the first Scorpions player to receive the award this season.
Robertson led the Scorpions with 18 points in 12 games in which the club recorded an impressive 8-3-1 mark in January. The Owen Sound, Ont. native, recorded five goals and 13 assists in January, along with seven multiple point contests, and finished the month with a +13 plus/minus ranking.
"I am ecstatic to win this award, especially since it is the first time I have received such an honor in professional hockey," said Robertson. "This is a definitely a confidence booster to be noticed and appreciated for my efforts."
Coming into the season, Scorpions Head Coach Ray Edwards felt Robertson could have a career year. Currently Robertson has scored 49 points, including 17 goals; both are career highs in this his third season of professional hockey.
"Chris has worked real hard for the past couple years and it is nice to see him reaping the benefits this season," said Edwards. "We always believed in his potential and the organization is excited he is able to reach it with us."
The Scorpions return home on Friday, February 9 for "UNM Night" beginning at 7:35 p.m. Special Lobo jerseys will be worn and auctioned off after the game with proceeds going to local charities. Call the Scorpions office at 881-PUCK [7825] to get your tickets for this exciting event.
On Saturday, the Scorpions will host the Lubbock Cotton Kings. The first 1,500 fans inside the Santa Ana Star Center will receive a limited edition, team trading card set, courtesy of Starline Printing. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
