Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings are excited to once again be hosting The Brick Teddy Bear Toss, presented by Global Edmonton, this Friday, December 1 against the Everett Silvertips at 7:00 P.M.
A limited number of tickets for Friday's game are available at oilkings.ca, starting at just $20 per seat.
Earlier today, the team unveiled a unique theme jersey that players will wear for the game and will be silent auctioned and raffled off during the game with all net proceeds benefitting 630 CHED Santas Anonymous.
Over the past 16 years, the Teddy Bear Toss has raised over $187,000 for 630 CHED Santas Anonymous.
"The Brick's Teddy Bear Toss is THE signature game of the season for the Edmonton Oil Kings," says Edmonton Oil Kings Director of Business Operations, Kevin Radomski. "This game embodies a combination of family fun and thrilling hockey action all while supporting our community and those in need of a little help during the holiday season.
"We can't wait to welcome a nearly capacity audience and all their bears to the game this Friday evening. If you're already coming, please plan to arrive early and most importantly of all, please bring a bear or better yet BEARS with you. If you're thinking about attending but haven't yet bought your tickets, this is a game that you don't want to miss. We can bear-ly contain our excitement!"
Last season's Teddy Bear Toss was held on Saturday, December 10 against the Red Deer Rebels. Oil Kings forward Noah Boyko scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal at 8:09 of the third period, sending 13,111 bears reigning down onto the Rogers Place ice surface from the 14,653 fans in attendance. This year, the Oil Kings are looking to raise both those numbers as they look to break the record of 16,491 bears set during the 2019-20 season.
Since the Oil Kings first Teddy Bear Toss on January 20, 2008, Oil Kings fans have donated 146,930 bears to 630 CHED Santas Anonymous through the tradition of throwing their new or gently loved bears onto the ice following the Oil Kings first goal of the game.
Rogers Place will be making a special adjustment to its bag policy for the game. Fans who are planning on using a bag to transport their bears, are encouraged to do so in a clear plastic bag. Bags will also be made available inside Rogers Place free of charge for those who do not have an appropriate bag.
Fan will also have the chance to purchase The Brick's Brickley Bear on the concourse during the game for $20 with all proceeds from those sales going to the Stollery Children's Hospital.
The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is this Friday, December 1 at 7:00 P.M. when they host the Everett Silvertips in the 16th annual The Brick Teddy Bear Toss.
The Oil Kings are Edmonton's first choice for family fun with great seats starting at $20 and season seats for as low as $9 per-game for an entire season of thrilling WHL action!
