Calgary, AB - In a battle with their provincial rivals from the north, the Calgary Hitmen dropped a 5-1 decision to the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday afternoon at Scotiabank Saddledome.

It was the third annual 'Every Child Matters' game dedicated to Indigenous youth empowerment through sport and a celebration of the Blackfoot culture presented in partnership with Siksika Health Services.

Riley Fiddler-Schultz, with his team leading 24th goal of the season, counted the lone tally for the home side on a day where Calgary outshot Edmonton 39-30.

Goaltender Logan Cunningham made 38 saves for the Oil Kings while German import Luca Hauf powered the offense with a pair of goals.

The first intermission was highlighted by on-ice traditional Indigenous dancers while the second intermission featured a round dance on the concourse.

For the second year in the row, the Hitmen wore a specially designed orange 'Every Child Matters' jersey which will now been auctioned online with proceeds to Siksika Minor Hockey.

The Hitmen wrap up the weekend tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 5 at home against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Game time is 2:00 p.m. in the 'Dome for another 'Sunday Funday' presented by Brookfield Residential. In addition to $2 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for concourse activities from TELUS Spark and a cast of characters outfitted by the Costume Shoppe. There are also $6 Hitmen Happy Hour food and drink deals throughout the day and the post-game RAM Family Skate. As a special addition the entire Hitmen team will be on the concourse at section 212 for a post-game autograph signing while mascot Farley the Fox will be on the ice for the skate.
