Revenge Game
Safe to say Friday's game in Kennewick didn't go the way Portland wanted. After scoring first on Marcus Nguyen's 14th 0f the year - a spectacular individual effort from #72 - the Hawks coughed up six unanswered goals in the final 40 minutes en route to their second loss of the week. But the beauty of a back-to-back as that, less than a day later, they have the chance to bounce back on home ice.
"Tri is one of the hottest teams in the league recently so we knew what we were going against tonight. I thought we started off strong. Every game is important. Any team can win in this league. You know we need to have a short memory, bounce back tomorrow and show them what we're made of," said Nguyen following the game.
The Winterhawks have yet to lose on home ice in 2023, sporting a 5-0-0 record in the Rose City since returning from their East Division road trip. That's a testament not only to the players' ability on the ice, but the influence of a raucous VMC fueling the team to victory. Let the boys hear ya tonight!
Sportlandia
Tonight's the night to celebrate all of the great sports teams in our city!
Prior to puck drop, enjoy music from a DJ and check out the Rosebuds pregame parade on the concourse after doors open, then stop by the team store to grab an exclusive Sportlandia shirt. When the puck hits the ice, cheer along with members of the 107 Independent Supporters Trust (Timbers Army & Rose City Riveters), and keep an eye out for Timber Joey roaming the VMC!
From the Blazers, to the Timbers, to the Thorns, Hops and more - there's something for fans of every team at tonight's game!
Century Schelter
After Marek Alscher skated in his 100th game in Kennewick last night, we could be in store for another milestone moment as Luke Schelter sits at 99 games played.
The second-year Winterhawk has recorded 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points through his WHL career thus far, including eight points in 31 games during the 2022-23 campaign. Should he suit up tonight, Schelter would be the eighth Winterhawk to hit the 100-game marker this season and the fourth member of Portland's 2019 draft class to do so.
