Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Javier Guevara went 3-3 with 4 RBI in Grand Junction's 9-7 loss to Ogden at Suplizio Field Monday night. The Rockies drop to 4-2 in the second half with an overall record of 24-20. Grand Junction continues its five-game homestand by facing off against the Raptors tomorrow night for game two. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m.

The Rox led off the scoring in the home half of the first. The trio of Will Golsan, Niko Decolati, and Grant Lavigne all drew walks to load the bases. With two outs, Guevara hit an RBI-triple to clear the bases and give GJ a 3-0 lead. The Raptors and Rockies each had solo homers in the second to make it 4-1. Ogden batted around in the fifth scoring five runs to take a 6-4 lead.

Decolati would make it all the way around the bases in the home half to put Grand Junction within a run. Both teams plated a pair in the eighth with Daniel Robinson drawing a walk and James Outman hitting a home run for the Raptors while Guevara singled with a home run from Reese Berberet for the Rockies to make it 8-7.

In the ninth, Grand Junction was able to get two outs in the form of a strikeout and groundout but had trouble getting the third out. Dillon Paulson was hit with a pitch before moving all the way to third on a wild pitch and passed ball on two straight pitches. Michael Vargas would walk before an infield single scored Paulson making it 9-7. In the bottom of the ninth, Golsan hopped aboard with a walk and made it to second base on a ground out but was stranded there as a called strikeout ended the game.

Alfredo Garcia is tagged with the loss and moves to 2-5 on the season after pitching 4 2/3 innings allowing six runs on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Golsan's hitting streak ends at 10 games but his walks have extended his on-base streak to 20 games.
