Billings Drops Voyagers with Walk-Off in Extras

Billings, MT - The Voyagers scored first in extra-innings but a two-run bottom of the 10th lifted Billings to a 4-3 walk-off win Tuesday night at Dehler Park.

Despite losing both road games in the series, Great Falls (23-21, 1-5) still holds the season series lead against the Mustangs at 5-to-3. The Voyagers dropped to 7-14 on the road, and are now 1-5 in extra-inning games. Billings (20-24, 5-1) has won seven of its last eight, and improved to 14-11 at home. The Mustangs are 2-1 in extras this season.

Billings started the scoring with two unearned runs in the 4th. With one out, Bren Spillane reached base on a ground ball error at short. Dylan Harris followed with a walk. A wild pitch moved Spillane to third. Drew Mount brought home the first run with a groundout to short. Juan Martinez tripled to right and Harris scored for a 2-0 lead.

The Voyagers leveled the game with a two-run 6th. Logan Sowers reached with a one-out double deep to the wall in right. Amado Nunez immediately singled Sowers home with a base knock lined into right. Nunez later scored the tying run on a ground ball error at short.

Great Falls scored first in extras with a single run in the 10th. A sacrifice bunt by Ramon Beltre moved Travis Moniot to third. Steele Walker gave the Voyagers a 3-2 lead with a sacrifice fly deep to the wall in left that allowed Moniot to tag from third.

Billings used a two-run bottom of the 10th to secure the victory. With Jay Schuyler starting the inning at second base, a balk call advanced him to third with nobody out. Cash Case then walked. A groundout to the pitcher left two runners on and first base open. The Voyagers intentionally walked Pabel Manzanero to load the bases with one out. Bren Spillane finished the night with a two-RBI single lined into left.

The Mustangs outhit the Voyagers 9-to-7. For Billings, Drew Mount and Juan Martinez each collected two hits and an RBI. Logan Sowers and Alex Destino both posted two hits for Great Falls. Sowers had a double with a run.

On the mound, Andrew McDonald posted the win in relief. McDonald (1-1) worked the final two innings and gave up one run with one walk. Austin Conway took the loss. Conway (0-1) allowed two runs on one hit with two walks.
