
Osprey and Brewers Wrap up July in Helena

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (21-22, 2-3) and Helena Brewers (20-23, 3-2) complete a quick two-game series Tuesday in Helena at Kindrick Legion Field to wrap up the July portion of the schedule.
Set to take the ball for Missoula is right-hander Andy Toelken (0-1). The 22-year-old out of the University of Missouri owns a 2.38 ERA with the Osprey in five appearances, one of them starts. His long start came against Billings July 2 as Toelken tossed 2.1 innings and allowed two earned runs but struck out a career-high five batters.
On the mound for Helena is left-hander Wilfred Salaman (3-1). The 20-year-old from Puerto Rico has seven starts under his belt, compiling a 2.58 ERA in 38.1 innings. Salaman has 28 strikeouts with 17 walks on the season. In his last appearance, Salaman allowed six runs in 4.1 innings against Ogden.
Missoula looks to take game two of the series after scoring a season-high 14 runs in a 14-7 win over the Brewers Monday.
It all started in the second inning for Missoula as Zack Shannon drilled a solo home run off Helena starter Justin Bullock. LG Castillo then homered for Helena to tie the game entering the third.
Missoula's offense wasted no time jumping on Bullock, as Munoz drew a leadoff walk. Marriaga doubled to place men on second and third with one out, and Hernandez drove a single to score Munoz. Buddy Kennedy doubled to left, scoring Marriaga and giving Missoula a 3-1 lead. Almond then crushed a double to rightfield to push the lead up to 5-1. Nick Dalesandro doubled home Almond and Missoula led 6-1 after three.
The teams traded runs in the fourth and fifth innings to make it a 7-2 game favoring Missoula heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Leading off the inning for Helena was Chad McClanahan who singled. David Fry followed him with a base knock and Je'Von Ward doubled home both runners to make it a four-run game. Pablo Abreu doubled to plate Ward while Jose Sibrian followed him with another double to score Abreu. A wild pitch scored the game-tying run off Blake Workman as the game went into the seventh knotted 7-7.
Marriaga, Hernandez, and Kennedy all singled to start the inning as Kennedy's base knock scored the go- ahead run. Shannon then record a sacrifice fly to pad the lead by two before Dalesandro reached on an error to score Kennedy and give the Osprey a 10-7 advantage.
Starting off the eighth was Marriaga, who singled for his third hit of the game. Hernandez followed him with another base hit before Almond unloaded on a double to score two more runs. Shannon doubled home Almond, and Dalesandro tripled in Shannon to complete the scoring and give Missoula a 14-7 lead.
The win goes to Workman (1-0), who pitched 1.2 innings and did not give up an earned run. Jake Polancic and Justin Garcia pitched the final to innings of shutout baseball to complete the game. Tate Budnick (0-1) is tagged with the loss for Helena.
Missoula and Helena play the second game of the series Tuesday with first pitch slated for 7:05 pm at Kindrick Legion Field. The Selway Armory Pregame Show is slated to begin at 6:45 pm on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App.
