Reading Fightin Phils News Release
(Harrisburg, PA) - It was a quiet night offensively as the Reading Fightin Phils (21-25, 49-65) fell to the Harrisburg Senators (23-23, 54-60) on Tuesday night. The Fightin Phils offense was held to just three hits, which matched a season low.
Harrisburg attacked early with runs in each of the game's first three innings. The Senators got one in the first when Trey Lipscomb singled to right to score Dylan Crews to go up 1-0. In the second, Crews hit a sac fly to right that scored Jackson Cluff and extended Harrisburg's lead to two.
The Senators tacked two more on in the third when Israel Pineda doubled to center to score both James Wood and Brady House. Harrisburg tacked on another when Trey Lipscomb hit a sac fly to right that scored JT Arruda and made it 5-0.
David Parkinson (L, 7-5) started for Reading and suffered the loss. He went 5.1 innings, allowed eight hits, four earned runs, and had six strikeouts. Carlos Francisco pitched 1.2 hitless innings, with three strikeouts, then Andrew Schultz pitched a scoreless eighth with two punchouts.
On the Harrisburg side, DJ Herz started for the Senators and was solid over four innings. He allowed no hits, just two walks, and had six strikeouts. Patrick Ruotolo (W, 2-1) earned the win after allowing no runs over two innings.
The Fightin Phils were held scoreless until the ninth when Marcus Lee Sang doubled to score Jhailyn Ortiz and make it 5-1. Reading couldn't garner any offense aside from that and fell by that final. Aside from Lee Sang, Carlos De La Cruz, and Max McDowell each added hits for the R-Phils.
