
Curve Capitalize off Long Ball in Tuesday Win

CURVE, Pa - The Curve knocked a pair of early homers and used a strong pitching performance from the bullpen to cruise to a 9-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Matt Gorski started the scoring for the Curve with his 15th homer of the season in the bottom of the first inning. After Akron's Aaron Bracho tied the game in the top of the second, Altoona rallied for three more runs off 'Ducks starter Tommy Mace in the second. Matt Fraizer singled to start the inning and after Andres Alvarez drew a walk on five pitches, Mike Jarvis smashed his first double-A homer to take a 4-1 advantage.
The Curve knocked Mace from the game in the fourth inning with a five-run frame. Jacob Gonzalez drove home a pair with a double off the wall in right-center and Eli Wilson added a run-scoring single to send Akron to the bullpen. Jackson Glenn added an RBI double off Mason Hickman to make it 8-2. Glenn would later score as he stole third base and crossed home when Micael Ramirez's throw went into left field.
Nick Dombkowski picked up the win with five innings of two-run ball in a starting role. Dombkowski allowed just two hits and two walks with six strikeouts, including each of the final three batters he faced. With his outing on Tuesday, the left-hander from West Springfield, MA lowered his season ERA to 3.23.
Omar Cruz followed Dombkowski with three scoreless innings of relief, allowing just two hits. Justin Meis closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
The Curve continue their series with the Akron RubberDucks, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, on Wednesday night 6:00 p.m. RHP Aaron Shortridge on the mound for the Curve against RHP Hunter Stanley for Akron.
