(Louisville, KY) - Pawtucket scored six runs in the third inning to build a big early margin, then starter Aaron Wilkerson tossed seven terrific innings to make the lead hold up as the PawSox beat the Louisville Bats, 9-1, in the opener of a three-game series on Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Ryan LaMarre and Chris Marrero each hit two-run homers in the third inning, while Deven Marrero capped the 10-batter rally with a two-run triple as Pawtucket (34-33) took a 7-0 lead against Louisville's Daniel Wright (1-1). It was the most runs scored in any single inning by the team this season.

Wilkerson (3-1) defeated the Bats for the second time in six days, this time holding Louisville to just five hits and one run in a Triple-A career-high seven innings of work. Robby Scott retired all six batters he faced over the final two innings to finish the victory.

After shutting out the same club for six frames last Sunday, Wilkerson finally allowed his first run against the Bats in the sixth inning of this affair. He fanned seven for the second straight start and walked only two while throwing 102 pitches (73 strikes).

The PawSox gave Wilkerson a quick lead when Chris Marrero's first inning sacrifice fly plated LaMarre, who had been hit by a pitch to begin the game. Then Wright, starting for the first time since being optioned from Cincinnati on Tuesday, fell apart in the third.

After Mike Miller's leadoff infield single, LaMarre blasted a two-run shot to left (6) against his former team to make the score 3-0. Jantzen Witte followed with a double paving the way for Chris Marrero's team-leading 11th long ball of the season and first in June, another drive to deep left.

Later in the frame following a single by Justin Maxwell and a walk to Dan Butler, Deven Marrero ripped a two-run triple into the gap in right-center that left the score 7-0. Pawtucket collected six hits in addition to the six runs in the third.

Miller drove home the final two PawSox runs - the first on an RBI single in the fifth and the last with an RBI groundout in the seventh. Louisville's lone run crossed the plate thanks to a two-out RBI single by Scott Schebler in the sixth.

Chirs Marrero drove home three of Pawtucket's nine runs and went 2-for-3 with a walk, while Witte and Miller also collected a pair of the team's 12 hits.

The PawSox play game two of their three-game series in Louisville on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. Pawtucket righty Justin Haley (NR) is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut against Bats' righty Keyvius Sampson (2-2, 1.83). Radio coverage begins on WHJJ (920 AM) and throughout the PawSox radio network at 5:35 p.m.

The PawSox return to McCoy on Monday to begin an eight-game homestand. Good seats for each game are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office, by calling (401) 724-7300 or by visiting pawsox.com.
