Indianapolis Indians News Release

CHARLOTTE - Friday's starting pitchers went stride-for-stride before the Charlotte Knights pulled away late in the game to hand the Indians a 4-0 defeat at BB&T Ballpark.

The result snapped a season-long streak of five consecutive wins entering the game.

Tyler Glasnow made his 14th start of the year for Indianapolis (36-31), opposed by Charlotte's Anthony Ranaudo. The two dueled through six full scoreless frames, going stride-for-stride the entire way before the outcome fell to the bullpen in the seventh.

Glasnow did not allow a hit in his six innings, but walked six and struck out six. Ranaudo (3-2) worked eight shutout innings of his own, surrendering just five hits as he turned in a commanding performance for the Knights (35-34).

Kelvin Marte (2-2) replaced Glasnow to start the seventh inning, when the Knights capitalized on the newcomer to the mound. The home squad plated three runs in the frame and added one more in the eighth inning against Trey Haley.

Game two of the three-game set will take place on Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
