Modesto Nuts News Release

Bakersfield, CA. - A pair of homers backed Konner Wade in the Modesto Nuts' 8-5 win against the Bakersfield Blaze on Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

In the third, the Blaze (33-57; 7-13) scored an unearned run to take the first lead of the game.

In the fourth, Ryan McMahon whacked a solo homer, his third in the first two games against the Blaze, to tie the contest. Eddie Campbell (L, 3-5) then allowed a RBI groundout to Ashley Graeter before Wilson Soriano whacked a RBI single. Soriano finished with three hits.

McMahon knocked Campbell out of the game in the fifth with a RBI single. Emilio Pagan entered and surrendered a majestic three-run homer to Correlle Prime to give the Nuts (46-44; 13-7) a five-run lead.

McMahon finished a triple shy of the cycle. Raimel Tapia had three hits and two doubles. Rosell Herrera recorded two hits and Prime has six RBI in two games in Bakersfield.

Konner Wade (W, 4-6) allowed just two earned runs over six innings. In his final frame, the Nuts' righty danced out of a tough jam. The Blaze loaded the bases in the sixth with nobody out, but Wade would not bend and got out of the inning without allowing an additional run. He induced a groundball to the Nuts' third baseman McMahon who threw home to get the out at the plate. Wade got an infield pop out from the next hitter before a fielder's choice ended the inning and threat.

The Nuts go for the sweep on Friday night against the Blaze with the first pitch scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:45 p.m.
