Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Adelanto, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes squandered a five-run lead, but got rescued by Cody Bellinger's solo homer in the ninth, as they eventually held on for an 11-10 win over the High Desert Mavericks on Thursday night in Adelanto.
Rancho clubbed a season-high six homers, but it was Bellinger's team-leading 17th of the year that proved to be the game-winner. After High Desert had just tied the game with four in the eighth, Bellinger cracked a two-out opposite-field shot to left field off Mavs' reliever Adam Parks (1-1).
Caleb Dirks (2-0), who allowed an inherited run to score in the eighth, worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the win.
Erisbel Arruebarrena smacked his first two homers of the year for Rancho, while Joey Curletta (8), Brandon Dixon (3) and Jacob Scavuzzo (4) all went deep for Rancho in the win.
The Quakes (10-10, 51-39) will look for a third straight win on Friday, sending Brock Stewart (3-2) to the hill, opposite High Desert's Trey Lambert (3-2) at 7:05pm.
After their series in High Desert, the Quakes will return home for four straight against the North-leading Visalia Rawhide. Saturday night's series-opener at LoanMart Field will feature post-game Fireworks, thanks to Metro Nissan in Montclair. Tickets are available at (909) 481-5000 or online at rccquakes.com.
