BELOIT, WI - The Midwest League, in conjunction with the Beloit Snappers and the Dayton Dragons, have announced that Snappers third baseman Renato Nunez will be one of the participants in the 2013 Midwest League Home Run Derby. The contest is set to take place just prior to this year's All-Star Game at Dayton's Fifth Third Field on June 18th.

"He's the natural choice," said Snappers manager Ryan Christenson. "considering he's among the league leaders in home runs. It's not surprising."

Nunez has been among the Midwest League leaders in homers all season and is currently in the lead with 13. The derby participants have been chosen from among the All-Star Game rosters.

This year, the Dragons are putting a unique spin on the home run derby. Nunez and one other player from the Western Division will be teamed with a local little leaguer against two Eastern Division players and another little league player. The derby will feature two rounds and the team with the most homers at the end of the second round will be declared the winner. The player with the most home runs will also be recognized and receive an award.

The Midwest League All-Star Game is set to take place on Tuesday, June 18th at 7:05pm. Tickets are available by contacting the Dayton Dragons at (937) 228-2287 or visiting daytondragons.com.
