Cedar Rapids, IA - The Peoria Chiefs offense stayed hot with three home runs in an 8-3 win over the first-place Cedar Rapids Kernels on Saturday night. The win moves the Chiefs to 37-29 with just one game remaining in the first half.

The Chiefs got on the board against Hudson Boyd in the second inning with the first of three home runs. Patrick Wisdom launched a line drive completely over the deck in left field and across the street for a 1-0 lead. Wisdom also homered in Cedar Rapids on Friday night and leads the team with 11 on the season. The Chiefs made it 2-0 in the third as a bases loaded double play ball plated Brett Wiley from third base.

In the fourth the Chiefs kept it going and knocked Boyd from the game. Jordan Walton led off with a triple and Wisdom singled him home with his 40th RBI of the season. Nick Martini doubled to right field and Jesus Montero was hit by a pitch. A double play left two on with two outs and Jimmy Parque crushed a three-run homer to right, his first of the season and first with an affiliated team. With the Chiefs on top 6-0, Boyd was taken out of the game as the Kernels went to the bullpen.

Dalton Hicks homered for Cedar Rapids off Hector Hernandez in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-1. The Chiefs answered with another homer of their own in the sixth as Montero went deep to left-center off Caleb Brewer.

Cedar Rapids scored twice off Hernandez in the seventh as Travis Harrison homered and Byron Buxton singled in a run. The Chiefs tacked on the final run of the night in the eighth as Montero was hit by another pitch and Wiley tripled into the right-field corner for his first Chiefs hit and RBI.

Hernandez (4-2) allowed three runs on five hits over seven innings in his second straight win. He walked two and tied a career high with nine strikeouts. Sam Tuivailala threw one shutout inning with a walk. Thomas Lee threw one shutout inning with one strikeout and a hit allowed.
