North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame Announces New Inductees

GREENSBORO, NC - The North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame has announced four new inductees for 2016: Doug Kidd, Logan Pause, Tab Ramos, and Jay Vidovich.

An induction banquet honoring these four soccer greats will be held in Raleigh on January 30th, 2016 at the North Raleigh Hilton.

The NC Soccer Hall of Fame, founded in 1997, inducts new members annually, including players, coaches, referees, and administrators who have made a significant impact on the game of soccer in the state. There are currently 53 members.

Career highlights of the four new inductees:

Doug Kidd was named the 2015 Girls High School Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He has recorded over 700 victories in his 24 years of coaching high school soccer, both at Watauga High School in Boone and at Swansboro High School. Kidd was a former player at Appalachian State University and at Page High School in Greensboro.

Logan Pause is currently the Vice President of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club. His soccer career began at Durham Jordan High School, continuing at UNC-Chapel Hill 2000-2002. He played Major League Soccer for the Chicago Fire for 12 years, 2003-2014, appearing in 286 games. Pause was honored by being named to the U.S. Men's National Team in 2009.

Tab Ramos serves as Assistant Coach for the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team and as Head Coach for the U-20 Men's National Team. He began his impressive soccer career at NC State University, where he was All ACC for 4 years and a three time All American. Ramos competed on the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team and the U.S. World Cup Team in 1990, 1994 and 1998. He was selected for the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005 and the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008.

Jay Vidovich is the recently-named Head Coach of the University of Pittsburgh Men's Soccer Team. He previously coached the Portland Timbers 2. Vidovich is known in North Carolina for his winning record as the longtime Wake Forest University Men's Soccer Coach in 1994-2014, winning the national NCAA Division I title in 2007. He was named ACC Soccer Coach of the Year five times and National Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2009.

Other nominees recognized for their contributions to soccer in North Carolina, but who were not selected for Hall of Fame induction this year are: Woody Gibson, Tom O'Shea, Stig Sasse and Don Scarborough.
