Minnesota United Set 2016 NASL Schedule

NEW YORK, NY - The full 2016 NASL schedule has been released and features a ten-match Spring Season and 22-match Fall Season with the Loons playing a total of 16 matches at home.

"It's incredible when you realize that we're less than 80 days away from the start of what will be our most exciting season yet," said NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson. "Our clubs have made unbelievable progress this offseason, and with some of the signings and announcements being made across the league, the product on the field is going to be at an all-time high."

The Minnesota United preseason kicks off on February 21st when the Loons travel to Portland for the Simple Invitational. In preparation for the 2016 NASL season, Minnesota will be playing three MLS sides-the Portland Timbers, Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Regular season play will begin for Minnesota United on April 2nd away from home, as the Loons head to Carolina to play a RailHawks side with new ownership that has brought in some impressive players this offseason and are looking to compete for a championship in 2016.

United returns to NSC Stadium for its home opener on April 16th, playing the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The Strikers have joined United in the NASL Playoffs these past two seasons and have already begun their 2016 preparations, kicking off their preseason earlier than most at the Florida Cup.
