Minnesota United FC News Release
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota United continues to grow ahead of the 2016 season, as midfielder Jamie Watson has signed a contract extension with the club. Per team and league policy, the terms of the deal are not disclosed.
"I'm very excited to be returning to Minnesota for another season," said Watson. "I want to thank the team doctors, the medical staff, and my family for helping me recover from an ACL tear these past 8 months in order to prepare me for the upcoming season. I'm grateful and appreciative of Manny [Lagos] and Carl [Craig] for believing in me and having the faith in me to sign a new deal. I plan on repaying their faith, along with the faith of the Dark Clouds and my teammates, this season by helping United win a championship!"
Watson joined Minnesota permanently in 2014 after a brief loan from Orlando City in 2012. He quickly became a favorite among fans and was part of the regular rotation in United's midfield. His ability bring energy to United's attack late in games has been a huge asset to the Loon's ability to close out matches.
Though he was poised for a promising year in 2015, Watson's season was cut short after he suffered a torn ACL in a Spring Season match against Indy Eleven. He made a full recovery over the course of the year and will be fit for the 2016 season.
