Normal CornBelters Add Middle Infielder to Roster

Normal, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have added middle infielder Brian Bistagne to their roster. Bistange joins the CornBelters for his sixth season in professional baseball.

The Glendale, Calf. native started his professional career when he was signed by the Minnesota Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2009. Bistagne has been playing in independent baseball for the past four seasons, bouncing between the American Association and the Frontier League.

"Brian's an experienced infielder that has had a lot of success in the past," said CornBelters Field Manager Brooks Carey. "He has talent both offensively and defensively."

During the 2013 season, Bistagne spent time between the Rockford Aviators and the Sioux City Explorers and combined he finished with a .257 batting average and a .333 on base percentage.

The Lee University graduate, batted .364 his senior season for the 53-14 Flames. He scored a team-leading 77 runs and knocked in 42 more from his lead-off spot in the lineup.

The CornBelters continue their season tonight against the River City Rascals. This is the final game in the three game series, before they travel to Joliet, Ill. over the weekend. The gates open tonight at 6 p.m. and the game will get underway at 7 p.m.
