
Norfolk opens homestand with win over Hershey

NORFOLK, VA - The Admirals opened a nine-game homestand when they hosted the Hershey Bears for their lone game last week. After Hershey broke up a scoreless tie early in the third period, Norfolk notched three unanswered goals by Duncan Keith, Rene Bourque and Ajay Baines to down the Bears 3-1.
This week, the Admirals host Hartford on Wednesday and Springfield on Friday and Saturday.
STANDINGS
Norfolk is tied for third in the East with 52 points (24-16-1-3) along with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (21-11-5-5, 52 pts). Binghamton (26-14-3-2, 57 pts) has taken over first place with Philadelphia (24-11-2-4, 54 pts) slipping to second place. Hershey (20-21-1-0, 41 points) is fifth followed by Bridgeport (16-22-1-1, 34 pts) and Albany (10-23-4-5, 29 pts).

ADMIRALS NOTEBOOK
· The Admirals are 10-0-0-0 at home this season when scoring three or more
goals. They are 17-1-0-1 overall when lighting the lamp thrice or more in a
game.
· With the game-winning goal vs. Hershey on the 21st, Rene Bourque extended
his point streak to seven games (4g, 4a). He leads Norfolk in goals (16) and
points (30). Among AHL rookies, Bourque is second in points, tied for second
in goals, tied for fifth in assists (14) and tied for third in game-winning
goals (3).
· After missing 10 games, Ajay Baines returned to the Admirals lineup on
January 21st and scored an empty net power play goal, his first tally since
November 28th.
· Baines' empty net goal was Norfolk's first since Mike Brown's on November
20th vs. San Antonio.
· Michael Leighton is 7-1-0 over his last eight starts with a 1.98 GAA and a
.922 spct. during that stretch.
· Brandin Cote has not recorded a point since an assist on December 5th at
Wilkes-Barre, a span of 16 games.
