Karl Goehring became the second goaltender (Mike Fountain – 54) in franchise history to reach the 50 win plateau - recording 22 saves in the Crunch's 2-1 shootout victory over Rochester on January 22. Goehring enters this week four wins shy of tying Mike Fountain for the Crunch's all-time mark. His career 2.62 goals against average and eight shutouts are second only to J.F. Labbe's 2.48 goals against average and 11 career shutouts. Goehring has appeared in 25 games for the Crunch this season, posting a 10-13-0 mark with a 2.63 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. His three shootout wins this season is tied for third among AHL goaltenders. A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Goehring led North Dakota (WCHA) to a National Championship in 1999-00, earning first-team All American. Goehring finished with a 80-20-13 record in 118 career games at North Dakota. Columbus signed Goehring as a free agent on May 7, 2001.

UNIVERSITY OF MAINE LEADS THE WAY: Syracuse's 2004-05 roster has had 12 players who played college hockey prior to turning professional with the University of Maine leading the way with four former members on the Crunch's current roster. Taking it a step further the Crunch has had 90 collegiate players suit up for them in franchise history, representing 39 different colleges. Syracuse has had more players (11) from the University of Maine play for them than any other college (Jacque Rodrigue, Jason Mansoff, Marcus Gustafsson, Bobby Stewart, Steve Kariya, Alfie Michaud, Robert Ek, Prestin Ryan, Chris Ferraro, Peter Ferraro, Matthias Trattnig). Boston University has seen seven alumni play for the Crunch, followed by North Dakota (6) and Bowling Green (6).

KOLARIK REASSIGNED TO DAYTON: The Crunch announced that center Tyler Kolarik has been reassigned to Dayton (ECHL). Kolarik appeared in two games for the Crunch, without recording a point, after his recall on January 21. In 37 games with Dayton this season, Kolarik has 12 goals, 13 assists and 45 penalty minutes. A native of Abington, Pennsylvania, Kolarik was the first U.S. born draft pick in Columbus history (150th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft).

GAMES PLAYED MILESTONES: Syracuse has a number of players moving in on games played milestones. Defenseman Francois Beauchemin is two games shy of 300 in his AHL career... Center Brad Moran is five games shy of becoming the third player in franchise history to reach 300 games played... Defenseman Zenith Komarniski and left wing Mike Pandolfo are nine games shy of 200 in a Crunch uniform... Center Chris Ferraro is one game shy of 450 in the AHL.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (PITTSBURGH PENGUINS): Syracuse travels to Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, January 26 and host the Penguins on Saturday, January 29 for the fifth and sixth of eight regular season meetings between the teams this season. The series is tied at two, with Syracuse winning the last match-up, 7-2 at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. Center Alexander Svitov leads all players in head-to-head scoring with seven points (3g, 4a). Right wing Michel Ouellet (2g, 4a) leads all Penguins players with six points in head-to-head scoring. Karl Goehring has appeared in two games, posting a 1-1-0 record, a 3.52 goals against average and .887 save percentage. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has appeared in three games against Syracuse, posting a 2-0-0 record, a 3.43 goals against average and .895 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 26-18-6 against the Penguins.

HAMILTON (MONTREAL CANADIENS): Syracuse travels to Hamilton on Friday, January 28 for the fourth of six regular season meetings between the teams this season. Syracuse leads the series 2-1, after defeating Hamilton in a shootout 3-2 at Copps Coliseum. Several Crunch players have three points in head-to-head scoring. Several Bulldogs players have two points in head-to-head scoring. Karl Goehring has appeared in two games, posting a 1-1-0 record, a 2.33 goals against average and .898 save percentage. Hamilton goaltender Yann Danis has appeared in all three games, posting a 1-1-1 record, a 2.54 goals against average and .929 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 24-26-11 against the Bulldogs.

BINGHAMTON (OTTAWA SENATORS): Syracuse concludes the week at Binghamton on Sunday, January 30 for the sixth of eight regular season meetings between the teams this season. Binghamton leads the series 5-0, after defeating Syracuse 4-2 in Binghamton. Center Jason Spezza leads all players in head-to-head scoring with nine points (3g, 6a). Right wing Joe Motzko leads the Crunch in head-to-head scoring with six points (1g, 5a). Karl Goehring has appeared in three games, posting a 0-3-0 record, a 3.28 goals against average and .894 save percentage. Binghamton goaltender Ray Emery has appeared in three games, posting a 3-0-0 record, a 1.96 goals against average and .944 save percentage. Lifetime, Syracuse is 7-11-2 against the Binghamton.

Johnson and Panzer to Sign Autographs at Friendly's January 24: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players Aaron Johnson and Jeff Panzer will be at Friendly's on James Street on Monday, January 24 from 5-6 p.m. to sign autographs.

Leclaire and Ryan to Sign Autographs at Quickway January 25: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players Pascal Leclaire and Prestin Ryan will be at Quickway on Erie Blvd. on Tuesday, January 25 from 4-5 p.m. to sign autographs.

Quickway is located at 2501 Erie Blvd. East. For directions please call 446-2900.

Crunch Players to Sign Autographs at Saturn January 25 and January 27: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players will appear at two different Saturn locations on Tuesday, January 25 and Thursday, January 27.

On Tuesday, January 25 Crunch players Joe Motzko and Brandon Sugden will be on hand at Saturn of Syracuse on Genesee Street from 6-7 p.m. to sign autographs. Saturn of Syracuse is located at 716 W. Genesee Street, in Syracuse. Call 472-0021 for directions.

Crunch players Chris Ferraro and Peter Ferraro will be on hand at Saturn of Rt. 31 on Thursday, January 2 from 6-7 p.m. to sign autographs. Saturn of Route 31 is located at 3885 Route 31, in Liverpool. For directions call 622-0054.

During the week of January 24, any person that test drives a Saturn vehicle at either Saturn location (716 E. Genesee Street and Route 31) will receive two free tickets to a select Crunch game. This voucher will be valid for one of three Crunch home games.

INJURY UPDATE: Goaltender Pascal Leclaire is expected to miss one-to-two weeks with a groin injury. He has missed 20 games with the injury... Right wing Brandon Sugden is expected to miss two months with a thumb injury. He has missed four games with the injury... Defenseman Prestin Ryan is expected to miss one-to-two weeks with a shoulder injury... Right wing Tim Jackman is expected to miss one-to-two weeks with a knee injury. He has missed one game with the injury... Defenseman Andre Lakos is listed as day-to-day with a back injury. He has missed one game with the injury. Through 41 games this season, Syracuse has lost 69 man-games due to injuries. CRUNCHABLES: Right wing Joe Motzko (2) and left wing Matthias Trattnig (2) have accounted for four of the Crunch's five game-winning shootout goals this season. Center Brad Moran has the other game-winning shootout goal... After winning just two of the first 17 games in which they trailed after two periods, Syracuse won back-to-back games on January 21 and 22 in which they trailed entering the final frame... Syracuse is 11-4-3-3 in one goal games this season... Syracuse's four goals in the third period on January 21 against St. John's was the most by the team in a period this season...
