Norfolk Tides News Release
Three Charlotte pitchers held Norfolk to six hits as the Knights blanked the Tides 5-0 Wednesday night at Harbor Park.
Charlie Leesman (3-4), Leyson Septimo and Brian Bruney combined on the shutout, Charlotte's third of the season. It was also the second consecutive shutout for Norfolk, which fell 1-0 Monday to Indianapolis.
Chris Tillman (3-5) took the loss for Norfolk, as he was once again provided with minimal run support. Tillman yielded three runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings, walking three and striking out four, as he surrendered single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings. The 24-year-old threw 60 of his 95 pitches for strikes.
The Tides have now scored just 17 runs in Tillman's seven starts this season, an average of 2.4 a game.
Justin Greene led Charlotte's offense with a solo homer and two doubles, while Ozzie Martinez added a pair of RBI singles.
Chris Robinson and Ty Kelly each had two hits for Norfolk.
The Tides will continue their series Thursday night as they take on the Knights in a 6:15 doubleheader at Harbor Park. Jason Berken (0-0, 1.55) and Eddie Gamboa (NR) will take the hill for the Tides, while RHP Terry Doyle (1-3, 3.86) will toe the rubber for Charlotte in game one. Charlotte's pitcher for game two is yet to be announced.
