Rochester Red Wings News Release
ROCHESTER, NY - Red Wings pitcher Anthony Slama, infielder Michael Hollimon, and members of the Red Wings front office tonight begin raising money for additional not-for-profit organizations as part of Baseball Month in Rochester. Twenty-six Rochester area not-for-profits are already benefitting from a raffle at each of the 26 games during Baseball Month in Rochester. Thirty-six different groups will now benefit from the charitable efforts of the month-long initiative.
Slama, Hollimon, and front-office staff members have pledged to adorn mustaches in May, and they are asking fans to vote for their favorite mustache by contributing to the not-for-profits of their choice.
Beginning tonight at the Red Wings-Louisville Bats game at Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.), and remaining until the final game of Baseball Month in Rochester, a table will be set up in the main breezeway behind homeplate with collection bins featuring photos of the participants with mustaches. Biographical information and details about the not-for-profit groups will also be provided.
"We have arrived at the midway point of Baseball Month in Rochester and figured it was time to use our mustaches to reach more people in need," Mason said. "Reaching twenty-six organizations in the community is great, but why not reach out to more? After all, we're Rochester Community Baseball. We are asking fans to share in the joy of wearing our mustaches by contributing to a cause near and dear to our hearts."
