County & City Championships at Victory Field

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 2012 County & City Championships will take place Thursday, May 17 at Victory Field. The County Championship features Roncalli and Lawrence Central at 5:30 p.m., followed by a matchup between Cardinal Ritter and Cathedral for the City Championship starting no earlier than 7:30 p.m.

Gates for the County & City Championships will be open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 and limited parking will be made available in the Victory Field parking lot for $3.

In the first matchup, the Roncalli Rebels, led by head coach Keith Hatfield, and Lawrence Central Bears, led by head coach Dan Roman, face off in the County Championship game for the second straight year. The Rebels topped Lawrence Central in last year's contest, winning Roncalli's first County Championship since 2003.

The night's second game, the City Championship, will pit the Cardinal Ritter Raiders against the Cathedral Fighting Irish. The Raiders are led by head coach Vince Purichia, while Cathedral is led by head coach Rich Andriole. The Fighting Irish are ranked No. 8 in Class 4A by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association poll and No. 19 in Indiana according to MaxPreps, an offshoot of CBSSports.com.
