Memphis Hustle News Release

Noa Parks, a senior volleyball player at Lewisburg High School in Olive Branch, has been named the Hustle High School Athlete of the Month presented by Campbell Clinic. She was recognized at Friday's contest against the Iowa Wolves.

Parks, an outside hitter and defensive specialist on the volleyball team led by Head Coach Allison Burchyett, is considered to be one of the best prep volleyball players in Mississippi. She has already committed to play at Mississippi College, located just a couple hours south in Clinton.

"Mississippi College was actually the first offer I received," said Parks. "I accepted it quickly, knowing it was the right fit for me. The size is perfect, the people are so nice, and the athletic programs are great," said Parks.

Noa intends to study marine biology and eventually own her own dive shop.

"I plan on majoring in biology and getting a business minor at Mississippi College and then going on to get my masters in marine biology down the road," explained Parks. "I love animals, the ocean, and diving so this is the perfect path for me."

As a freshman, Parks played in 109 sets to help Lewisburg win a State Championship in 2015. Her decorated career includes accolades like being named to the Under Armour All-America Watch List this year, two All-State selections, three All-DeSoto County selections and was named the MaxPreps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Week this year for the week of September 10. Parks is also the first player in Lewisburg history to reach both 1,000 kills and digs. Despite the impressive resume, her favorite moment in her career isn't an individual award.

"My favorite accomplishment of my high school career is getting the opportunity to compete in the Mississippi All-Star match this past summer," says Parks. "It was a humbling experience getting to compete with some of the best players in the state and I left there with many new friends!"

Besides competing at Lewisburg, Noa also plays with the Memphis Volleyball Academy, led by In-Sik Hwang, who leads the volleyball program at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Parks credits both programs for helping shape her into the player she is today.

"Coach Hwang has taught me almost everything I know," Noa says. "I am so grateful for all the time he invested in my team and me personally over the years. MVA was always the perfect fit for my family, and I could not imagine having played anywhere else. Also, my school coaches Allison Burchyett and Ruth Anne-Gammel have been the best I could ask for. I am so thankful for all the opportunities and support they have provided in my career at Lewisburg."

Noa is also appreciative of the support of her parents.

"I would like to thank my parents, Alan and Alishia Parks, for helping me tremendously throughout the whole recruiting process, I could not have done it without them."

Parks also thrives off the court. She currently maintains a 3.7 GPA in the classroom, and is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Lewisburg. Additionally, she's on a service team at Life Fellowship church.
