
Nie Earns Second Weekly Honor

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup champions, announce that goaltender Ryan Nie has been selected as the UHL's Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending April 1st.
Victories over Muskegon and Port Huron pushed Nie to the head of the class for Goaltender of the Week. Nie finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, 1.00 goals against average and .964 save percentage. Ryan worked overtime for both victories, as both decisions were 2-1 shootout wins.
The native of Nanticoke, Ontario leads the league with a 1.95 GAA, .932 save percentage and seven shutouts.
The Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week Award is the second by Nie and the fifteenth collected by a K-Wings goaltender in the team's UHL history. The award is the fourth earned by Kalamazoo this season; Tom Askey won the other two.
Kalamazoo will begin a three-game week this Wednesday (4/4) on the road against the Flint Generals. The K-Wings will return home to Wings Stadium to finish off the regular season with two games starting this Friday (4/6) with 7:30 p.m. battle against Bloomington PrairieThunder on Team Poster Night sponsored by FedEx Kinkos and Budweiser.
The K-Wings will finish off the regular season on Saturday (4/7) at 7:30 p.m. versus the Fort Wayne Komets on Fan Appreciation Night presented by Outdoor Services and WKFR. During the game, Kalsee Credit Union will have a $1,000 cash giveaway. Following the contest, the K-Wings will host their annual player award ceremony and an auction featuring the Outdoor Services Warm-Up Jerseys and an actual 2006 Colonial Cup Ring. The winning bid on the ring will have it customized and fitted to their exact specifications.
