Nicolas, Villarreal Earn Weekly Awards

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has selected Grand Prairie AirHogs INF Cesar Nicolas and Winnipeg Goldeyes LHP Luis Villarreal as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Nicolas batted .435 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in six games. He also collected 10 hits, scored seven runs and had a slugging percentage of .957. In the 25-11 win over the El Paso DIablos Sunday, Nicolas went 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and five runs batted in. The Miami, FL resident currently is second in the league in hitting at .427 and tied for fifth in home runs with six.

Villarreal collected two wins in both of his starts this past week. In 10 2/3 innings pitched, the San Antonio, TX resident allowed no earned runs on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. On the season, Villarreal is 2-0 with a 0.71 ERA in 12 2/3 innings pitched.
