Nick Williams Named Texas League Player of the Week

FRISCO, TEXAS (JULY 27, 2014) - The Frisco RoughRiders are proud to announce that outfielder Nick Williams was named Texas League Player of the Week for July 20-26.
In seven games this past week, Williams hit .400 (12-for-30) with four doubles, two homers, five RBI and six runs scored. For the week, Williams led the TL in extra base hits and tallied a game-winning home run against San Antonio on Monday, July 20.
Since July 7, he is first in the Texas League in batting average (.433), second in runs (14) and hits (26), first in extra-base hits (11), first in total bases (48), tied for fourth in triples, tied for first in home runs (5), first in on-base percentage (.477), first in slugging (.800) and first in OPS (1.277).
Overall, the Galveston native is batting .302, good for seventh in the TL and third among all Rangers farmhands. He is also second in the TL at-bats (367), tied for sixth in homers (13), second in hits (111), fifth in slugging (.488), tied for fourth in extra-base hits (38) and first in total bases (179).
In addition to his selection as a Mid-Season Texas League All-Star, the left-handed slugger was chosen to participate in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game in Cincinnati this season.
Williams was named the Player of the Week in the Carolina League with Myrtle Beach in 2014 and twice named the South Atlantic Player of the Week with Hickory in 2013. This is the first TL Player of the Week honor for Williams, and the fifth such award for a RoughRiders player overall.
