Hounds' Homers Too Much for Riders

FRISCO, TEXAS (July 27, 2015) - The Midland RockHounds blasted four home runs, including two from Matt Olson, in a 12-9 defeat of the Frisco RoughRiders on Monday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Frisco's Zach Cone knocked a home run of his own, and picked up four RBI in the loss.

Colin Walsh started the scoring in the first inning with a solo-homer to put the RockHounds up 1-0. Ryan Cordell answered in the bottom of the frame with his own solo blast to tie the contest.

Midland took a 3-1 lead in the fourth with an Olson two-run home run over the Kroger Pool Zone in right field. The Riders got one run back in the bottom half with a double from Cone, scoring Nomar Mazara.

Olson hit his second long ball of the game in the fifth inning, a three-run shot, to give Midland a 6-2 advantage. Frisco climbed back when Cone plated three with a double to cut the deficit to one run.

Rangel Ravelo homered in the seventh and the RockHounds utilized five base hits in the eighth to add six runs and take a 12-5 lead.

Jake Thompson dropped the decision over six innings of work. The Rockwall-native allowed six runs on six hits, but struck out five. Jonathan Joseph notched his seventh win over 5 1/3 innings. He gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out seven.

Omar Duran struggled in the ninth for Midland, allowing four runs on four hits. Ryan Dull saved his 12th game by getting the final two outs and sealed the 12-9 victory for Midland.

The Frisco RoughRiders look to LHP Frank Lopez on Tuesday night. Midland counters with RHP Parker Frazier in the 7:05 first pitch.
