
Nick Rickles Named Topps MWL Player of July

BELOIT, WI - Minor League Baseball has announced that Beloit Snappers catcher Nick Rickles has been named the Midwest League's Player of the Month for July. Rickles batted a league best .400 during July, put up the second best OPS in the league (1.039) and the third best slugging percentage (.624). He also drove in 19 runs and totaled 11 extra base hits only 22 games.
Rickles month included a five-for-five performance on July 27th against the Quad Cities River Bandits in which he also homered, drove in two and fell only a triple shy of the cycle. The Beloit backstop's exploits also included an evening on the 22nd in which he drove in five and capped a ninth inning comeback with a grand slam as the Snappers defeated Bowling Green. During this past month, Rickles also earned recognition for his performance on the week of July 22-28, when he was named Midwest League Player of the Week for hitting .500 with 2 homers and 9 RBIs.
Rickles is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is listed at 6'3 and 230 pounds. This is his third year in the Oakland Athletics organization after they selected him with their 14th round pick in the 2011 draft.
