Newcomers Deliver as Aeros Win at Harrisburg, 5-2

Harrisburg, PA - Akron's two newest position players combined to drive in three runs, and lefty T.J. House threw seven strong innings as the Aeros defeated the Harrisburg Senators, 5-2, Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park.

Jesus Aguilar stroked a two-out, two-run double in the first inning as the Aeros jumped to an early lead against Trevor Holder (2-3). Playing in his second game for the Aeros, Aguilar doubled off the wall to drive home Thomas Neal and Chun Chen, each of whom singled with two outs. The 22-year old has hit safely in both his games since being called up from Class-A Carolina.

The Aeros (72-50) added two more runs in the second, chasing Holder from the game before he recorded an out in the inning. A walk to Carlos Rojas and a double by Tyler Holt placed runners at second and third. Jordan Henry and Neal followed with back-to-back RBI singles to make it 4-0. Holder was lifted for reliever Ryan Tatusko, who proceeded to put out the fire with six shutout innings.

Meanwhile, Aeros lefty T.J. House (7-3) held the Senators (56-67) to two runs, one earned, over seven innings to earn his seventh win. House gave up a walk, double and RBI groundout in the second to make it 4-1. An unearned run in the seventh, courtesy of a throwing error on Rojas, made it 4-2.

Rojas redeemed himself, however, in the eighth inning, with an RBI infield hit for his first Aeros RBI. He drove in Matt Lawson who also reached on an infield hit to lead off the inning, before moving up two bases on a sacrifice bunt and a long fly out. Rojas was traded to the Indians organization from Baltimore on Monday.

Kyle Landis worked a scoreless eighth for House, and closer Preston Guilmet worked a perfect ninth for his second save of the series and his league-high 21st of the season.

Neal, Chen, Lawson, and Ryan Rohlinger all had two hits apiece for the Aeros, as the magic number for clinching the EL West dropped to 13

The Aeros will conclude the series and road trip at Harrisburg on Thursday night at 7:00. RHP Toru Murata (8-10, 3.43) will make the start for the Aeros, while RHP Chien Ming Wang (1-3, 4.88) will get the starting nod for Harrisburg on rehab from the Nationals.
