Fourth 2012 Rock Cats Player Promoted to Major Leagues

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, announced today that INF Pedro Florimon has been promoted from Triple-A Rochester to the Minnesota Twins. He becomes the fourth Rock Cats player to play at New Britain and Minnesota this season. OF Darin Mastroianni, RHP Lester Oliveros, RHP Luis Perdomo, and INF Pedro Florimon all began the season at New Britain and were called up to the Minnesota Twins In addition, RHP Jason Marquis was also with the Rock Cats this year and made two starts in April Florimon was the Rock Cats opening day shortstop and batted .283 with 4 doubles, two home runs, 8 RBI and 7 stolen bases in 30 games at New Britain before getting promoted to Triple-A May 7. He was named to the Triple-A All-Star team with the Red Wings.

The Rock Cats continue their 6-game homestand tonight at New Britain Stadium and play the middle of a 3-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco-NL). New Britain is tied with Reading for the wild card spot in the Eastern League Playoffs with 20 games remaining in the regular season.
