New York Red Bulls Sign Forward Tom Barlow to MLS Contract

May 8, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - New York Red Bulls News Release

HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls have signed forward Tom Barlow to an MLS contract, the club announced today. Barlow, a 2018 MLS SuperDraft pick, joins the First Team after scoring 18 goals in 34 games with New York Red Bulls II.

"Tom has earned a spot on our First Team roster with his play on the field, which is a result of hard work and commitment day in and day out," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "When we drafted Tom in 2018 we liked him as a player, and now we have seen how he fits within our team, and within our playing style. We are excited for Tom to get this opportunity and look forward to his continued development."

Barlow, who was drafted in the second round (39th overall) out of Wisconsin, scored 10 goals in 26 USL appearances as a rookie. Barlow currently leads the USL Championship with eight goals in eight appearances this season.

"We are pleased to add Tom to the first team," said Red Bulls Head Coach Chris Armas. "We've watched him closely with our USL team and have seen rapid growth. Tom is athletic, honest, but also intelligent and this makes him a consistent attacking threat up the field. This signing is another example of the value of our USL team and the work that John Wolyniec and his staff continue to do."

Barlow will be available for selection tonight when the Red Bulls host the Montreal Impact at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG+ and Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish. Tickets for the match are available by calling 1.877.727.6223 or visiting www.newyorkredbulls.com/tickets.
