Red Bulls Falter Late, Lose to Montreal, 2-1

An early Aaron Long goal wasn't enough as the New York Red Bulls (3-5-2, 11 pts) lose late to the Montreal Impact (6-4-2, 20 pts), 2-1, on Wednesday at Red Bull Arena. New York drops three points at Red Bull Arena to Montreal in league play for the first time in the series history.
New York completed their three-match homestand, taking six of nine points (2-1-0) at Red Bull Arena.
Following a foul outside the box, Marc Rzatkowski swung a free kick into the box for Long to head in the game's first goal in the 36th minute.
Early in the second half, Montreal strung together back-to-back goals on set pieces in a 13-minute span to grab the win.
Long recorded his fifth career MLS goal. Four of his five goals have been via header.
New York will take a quick trip West to face FC Dallas on Saturday, May 11 at Toyota Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. ET with coverage on Univision and New York Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.
Rzatkowski tallied his second MLS assist of 2019. The German midfielder has recorded points in back-to-back matches (1g, 1a).
2018 MLS SuperDraft Second Round pick Tom Barlow, who signed his first-team contract on Tuesday, made his MLS debut as he started and played 74 minutes.
New York is 49-44-23 all-time in the month of May. New York has scored 178 goals in May and allowed 166.
