New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls homegrowns John Tolkin and Daniel Edelman have been selected to the U.S. Men's Olympic team training camp for March, U.S. Soccer announced today.
Tolkin, 21, will be making his third-straight call-up to a U.S. Men's Olympic Team training camp. The Chatham, N.J. native was also recently called up to the U.S. senior National Team in January for their training camp and match against Slovenia, where he played 29 minutes. Tolkin enters his fifth season with the Red Bulls, where he has scored five goals and tallied 11 assists in MLS play. The defender set a new franchise record last season for most assists by a defender in a single season across all competitions with 10.
Edelman, 20, earns his first selection to a U.S. Men's Olympic Team training camp. He led the U.S. U-20's in 2022 to win the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which qualified the United States for the 2024 Summer Olympics for the first time since 2008. Edelman also captained the U.S. U-20's at the U-20 FIFA World Cup last year, where they qualified for the quarterfinals. The Warren, N.J. native is in his third season with New York and has made 42 MLS appearances for the club.
Tolkin, Edelman, and the U.S. Men's Olympic Team will participate in a training camp before playing in two matches. First, they will face off against Guinea on Friday, March 22 in Olot, Spain and then they will battle France on Monday, March 25 in Montbeliard. Both matches will be streamed on U.S. Soccer digital platforms.
