New England Revolution News Release
MIAMI - Concacaf has confirmed the pairings and schedule for the Quarterfinal Round of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup, which will see the New England Revolution battle the defending LIGA MX champions Club América in a home-and-away aggregate series with the first leg at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday, April 2 (9:00 p.m. ET), and the second leg at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Tuesday, April 9 (10:30 p.m. ET).
The Quarterfinal series will mark the first meeting between the New England Revolution and Club América, the Mexican giant that has won the Concacaf Champions Cup seven times, most recently in 2016. Tickets for New England's April 2 home leg against Club America at Gillette Stadium will go on sale tomorrow, Saturday, March 16 on Revolutionsoccer.net/tickets and Ticketmaster.com.
The Concacaf Champions Cup 59th edition, revamped to include 27 clubs and five rounds, kicked off the first week of February with Round One and was followed by two weeks of Round of 16 matches in March. The Revolution defeated the reigning champions of Panama, Club Atletico Independiente, 4-0 on aggregate in Round One. In the Round of 16, New England bested Costa Rican club LD Alajuelense 5-1 on aggregate to make the Quarterfinals for the second time in the last three seasons. Through four games in the tournament, New England has kept three clean sheets, while six different Revolution players have found the back of the net.
The Revolution are seeking their first appearance in the Concacaf Champions Cup Semifinals, which will require besting the current defending champions of Mexico's topflight in Club América, the historic Mexico City-based side founded in 1916. América reached the Quarterfinals by defeating their longtime rivals Chivas Guadalajara in the Round of 16, 5-3 on aggregate. They defeated Real Estelí of Nicaragua in Round One, 3-2 after two legs. Managed by André Jardine, Las Águilas won the 2023 Apertura with a 12-4-1 record, and currently sit second in the 2024 Clausura at 7-3-1.
