
New York City FC Announces Roster Moves for 2022

NEW YORK, N.Y.- New York City FC (NYCFC) today announced roster options ahead of the 2022 season.
Four players have had their options exercised for 2022: Justin Haak, Cody Mizell, Vuk Latinovich, and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi.
The Club declined the options for four players: Jesús Medina, Juan Pablo Torres, Gudi Thórarinsson, and Tony Rocha.
Maxi Moralez is out of contract at the end of 2021 and the Club is currently in discussions with him about an extension.
The Club has also agreed new contracts with Gedion Zelalem, Nicolás Acevedo, and Héber.
NYCFC Sporting Director David Lee said, "We enjoyed a fantastic 2021 season culminating in the Club's first ever MLS Cup trophy. End of year roster decisions are never easy, but we are pleased to have negotiated new deals with three players and retained the core of the current roster.
"I would like to thank all the players who are departing for playing a crucial role in helping our Club to win our first MLS Cup. The entire roster played a fundamental role in our success, and it wouldn't be possible without the contributions of every single player."
NYCFC would like to thank all of the players departing the Club at this time for their contributions and wishes them luck in the future.
The following players are under contract for the 2022 season:
Goalkeepers (3): Luis Barraza, Sean Johnson, Cody Mizell
Defenders (8): Malte Amundsen, Alex Callens, Maxime Chanot, Chris Gloster, Tayvon Gray, Vuk Latinovich, Christian McFarlane, Anton Tinnerholm
Midfielders (7): Nicolas Acevedo, Justin Haak, Alfredo Morales, Keaton Parks, Santiago Rodríguez, James Sands, Gedion Zelalem
Forwards (7): Thiago Andrade, Valentin Castellanos, Héber, Andres Jasson, Talles Magno, Alexandru MitriÃâºă, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi
Alexandru MitriÃâºă is on loan at PAOK FC until July 2022.
