Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte FC today announced Jaime Moreno and Antonio Ramos as the Spanish-language commentary team for local broadcasts on Telemundo Charlotte.
Moreno will handle play-by-play duties and Ramos will provide color analysis, similar to their concurrent roles as announcers for the Carolina Panthers Spanish Radio Network.
The pair will be live on Telemundo Charlotte for the first time at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night for Charlotte FC's Expansion Draft show.
Moreno, who is from Mexico City, has been the play-by-play voice of the Panthers Spanish Radio Network since 2010. Ramos, who was born in Veracruz, Mexico, joined Moreno in 2020 as the color analyst.
"We're delighted to welcome Jaime and Antonio to Charlotte FC as our commentary team for Spanish-language broadcasts on Telemundo," said Club President Nick Kelly. "They bring an infectious excitement into the booth that fans across the Carolinas have come to know and love and we're excited to have them call Charlotte FC matches. Their extensive backgrounds in soccer at all levels is essential for us as we strive to deliver the best experience for our diverse fan base."
Moreno has been significantly involved with soccer in the Charlotte community over the years. Starting in 1991, he hosted a soccer-focused sports radio show on 1030 AM, the area's only Spanish sports radio show. In 2002, he was part of the group to bring Liga MX club, Necaxa, to Charlotte for a match against the Guatemalan National Team at Memorial Stadium.
Additionally, the Mexico City native holds his D-level USSF coaching license and currently coaches at North Mecklenburg High School. He's also been the goalkeeping coach at Catawba College.
"I'm very excited to be joining Charlotte FC as the Spanish play-by-play commentator," said Moreno. "I view this job as a dual responsibility to both represent the Hispanic community within the Club and represent the Club within the Hispanic community. Hopefully, fans across the Carolinas can create some special memories alongside me and Antonio throughout our inaugural season in 2022."
Antonio Ramos has worked for the Panthers Spanish Radio Network since 2015, first starting as Manager of Radio Affiliates in Mexico before joining Moreno in the booth in 2020. He also serves as Social Media Content Manager for "Los Panthers", the team's Spanish-language social media account.
In addition to his work with the Panthers, Ramos was the Liga MX play-by-play announcer and radio analyst on Media Cancha Deportes (102.5 FM XHJA) for Club Deportivo Veracruz matches.
"Joining Jaime in the booth for Charlotte FC games is an exciting opportunity," said Ramos. "We want all Hispanic and Latino fans to feel that they belong and are a part of the Club. Bringing Spanish-language broadcasts to their homes across the Carolinas will be a wonderful opportunity to help achieve this goal."
Telemundo Charlotte will be Charlotte FC's flagship Spanish-language television partner, while WSOC-TV (ABC Charlotte) and WAXN (TV64) will be the Club's English-language television partner.
