New Catcher Joins Cougars

Kane County Cougars News Release


GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, have announced that catcher Kevin David has been sent to the Cougars roster from Class-A Advanced Wilmington. Infielder Murray Watts has been promoted to Wilmington, while catcher Edul Escobar has been released by the Royals organization. This morning's roster moves brings the Cougars to an active roster of 24 players as the team closes a six-game homestand this evening against West Michigan. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

David (19th round, 2010) had played in 58 games for the Blue Rocks, and was batting .251 with 3 home runs and 23 RBI. David spent a portion of last season at Kane County, batting .240 in 42 games and joins Kenny Swab as the two catchers on the active roster. Watts (28th round, 2010) led all current Cougars with 9 home runs at the time of his promotion.
