MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Despite a lead in possession of 57-43 percent, Memphis 901 FC was hurt by goals bookending halftime in a 2-0 defeat to Nashville SC in front of a crowd of 7,828 Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.

Nashville (9-5-5, 32 pts) scored in the 42nd and 49th minutes, with Jimmy Ockford putting it home for Nashville's first score of the night and Daniel Rios following suit a few minutes later after the halftime break.

Memphis (3-9-5, 14 pts) came out the aggressor and had four tries in the first 12 minutes of the match, with Elliot Collier, Wes Charpie, Dan Metzger, and Adam Najem all getting a good look. 901 FC found the back of the net in its early-going attacking, but a Brandon Allen goal in the 8th minute was waived off in a critical decision.

Metzger had two more looks near the end of the half, but 901 FC could not find the back of the net.

Once again 901 FC came out of the locker room strong, with a great try in front of the goal by Ewan Grandison stopped by the Nashville keeper. That immediately led to a counter down the field, which resulted in the second Nashville goal.

901 FC led in nearly every offensive category, including holding a 16-9 advantage in shots, 10 of which came from inside the box.

Grandison and Metzger led the way for 901 FC with three shots, and Cam Lindley had four key passes to help set up the offense.

Scott Levene ended the match with three saves in goal.

Memphis 901 FC remains at AutoZone Park for a Saturday night showdown against New York Red Bulls II. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Memphis closes July with another home match, next Saturday, July 27, against Ottawa Fury FC.
