Reno's Road Trip Rolls Into Southern California
July 18, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Reno 1868 FC News Release
RENO, Nev. - Reno 1868 FC is set to take their four-game winning streak into Los Angeles, Calif. to take on LA Galaxy II on Saturday. On Wednesday Reno came back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to top OKC Energy FC in Oklahoma in the first of three straight on the road. Reno has won two straight on the road, dating back to June 26 against Portland Timbers 2.
During Reno's four game win streak, the team has scored 11 goals and allowed just three. The 11 goals have come from nine different players, including two from Corey Hertzog who now sits in the top 10 in the league with nine on the season. Since the team last lost, Seth Casiple, JT Marcinkowski, Sam Gleadle and Zach Carroll have each been elected to the USL's team of the week.
The boys in blue come into southern California with a 10-4-5 record, which puts them in second in the USL's Western Conference. The 35 points give them a one point lead over Fresno FC in third, and trail Phoenix Rising FC by just three points for first place.
Entering Saturday's match, LA sits 13th in the western conference with a 5-6-8 record. At home, LA is 3-2-5 this season. Wednesday's win moved Reno to 4-3-2 away from home this season.
Reno and LA are meeting for the second time this season. 1868 topped LA on June 15 4-2 to make the all-time series 5-0-0 in Reno's favor. The win tied Reno's season-high for goals scored.
The match kicks off from Stubhub Center at 7:00 p.m. PT and will be streamed on ESPN+. After the match, Reno will stay in southern California to take on Orange County SC on Wednesday. The three-game road trip is the team's longest of the season.
